What we collect, what we do not, and why.

TheDebtPayoff is built to know as little about you as possible. There are no accounts, no signups, and no tracking of what you type into the calculators. Every calculation happens inside your own browser. The only personal information that ever reaches us is what you choose to send, for example an email you write to us. The rest of this page explains the details in plain language.
Calculator inputs: the balances, APRs, payments and other numbers you enter are processed locally in your browser and are never sent to our servers. When you close the page, they disappear from memory. Saved debts: if you use the "Save my debts" feature, your debts are stored in your own browser's local storage, on your device only. We cannot see them, we cannot access them, and they are never transmitted anywhere. You can delete them at any time with the feature's own clear control or by clearing your browser's site data. Contact emails: if you email us at contact@thedebtpayoff.com, we receive your message and your email address, and we use them only to reply. We never sell, rent, or share email addresses with anyone, for any reason. Server logs: like nearly every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and reliability. We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors, and we never combine them with anything else.
We do not set any cookies ourselves, and the site works fully without cookies. Your browser's local storage, used only by the optional "Save my debts" feature described above, is not a cookie: it never leaves your device and is never read by us. If we ever introduce anything that uses cookies, this policy will be updated before it goes live.
We do not currently run any analytics software, so no usage statistics are collected about your visits. If we add analytics in the future, for example Google Analytics 4 to understand which calculators people find useful, this policy will be updated first. Any analytics we add will use aggregated and anonymized data, IP anonymization will be enabled, and we will honor standard opt out mechanisms including Google's opt out browser add on.
The small amount of information described above is used only to operate this site, answer messages sent to us, and keep the service secure and reliable. We do not build profiles of visitors, we do not personalize content based on your activity, we run no behavioral advertising, and we do not sell data. There is nothing to sell.
No one, for marketing or any other commercial purpose. The only third party involved in running this site is our web hosting provider, which may process the technical log data described under server logs as strictly necessary to host the site, bound by its own privacy obligations. We do not share your email address or your messages with anyone except as required by law.
Because we collect almost nothing, there is almost nothing to secure. The site is served over HTTPS, which encrypts the connection between your browser and our server. Emails you send us are handled carefully, and access to the mailbox is limited to the site operator.
Calculator inputs are never stored, so there is nothing to retain. Debts you save with "Save my debts" stay in your own browser until you delete them; we keep no copy. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your message and any follow up, then deleted. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider under its own retention schedule, normally a short period for security purposes.
Since the only personal information we hold is email correspondence you chose to send, your rights are simple to honor. You may ask at any time what we hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it, by emailing contact@thedebtpayoff.com. Every genuine request gets a reply. Depending on where you live, local privacy law may give you additional rights, such as those California residents hold under California privacy law; given how little we collect, this policy is written to meet or exceed those requirements.
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Debt payoff calculators are adult financial tools. If you are under 18, please use this site with a parent or guardian.
When this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new last updated date. Any material change, such as introducing analytics or new data collection, will be reflected here before it takes effect, not after.
